Refrigeration and process systems for Dioxitek

The project

Dioxitek produces uranium dioxide, a raw material used in manufacturing fuel elements for Argentine nuclear power plants. The New Uranium Plant project in Formosa is part of that industrial supply chain.

Frimont supports its development with refrigeration solutions and process systems. The relationship has expanded into new phases and responsibilities, built on the client's confidence in the engineering and execution team.

The challenge

The initial requirement was to develop the project's industrial refrigeration. As site requirements evolved, Dioxitek expanded Frimont's involvement to the precipitation and evaporation areas, introducing new integration challenges.

The solution

The refrigeration solution comprises five ammonia compressors, nine evaporative condensers, and two air conditioning chillers. The industrial circuit uses ammonia as a natural refrigerant, while the air conditioning system uses R134a.

Frimont's scope spans from detailed engineering to commissioning of the systems under its responsibility. The scope also includes the integration of the evaporation area and associated works in the precipitation area.

Project continuity

Collaboration continues through scope extensions. This project demonstrates Frimont's capability to support different stages of an industrial development and respond to emerging engineering, equipment, and integration requirements.
